OSHA has issued a final rule that will expand the current exemption for digger derricks used in the electric/utility industry. The final rule expands the exemption to telecommunications work and provides a complete exemption from having to follow Subpart CC of the Cranes and Derricks in Construction standard. The final rule will become effective June 28, 2013.
