NIST Creates New Method for Analyzing Standards

A new method called Framework for Analysis, Comparison and Testing of Standards (FACTS) aims to ease the process of creating and implementing voluntary consensus standards. Developed by National Institute of Standards (NIST), the agency released a document that outlines the new method and how its focuses on a matrix format to help ease the process of analyzing a proposed or existing standard when considering its scope, function and motivation. NIST reports that FACTS could be used to clarify goals during the development stage of a standard and give insight into issues related to the impact of implementation.
