Occupational Risks in Green Building

It is no secret that "green" buildings offer environmental, economic and social benefits that far outweigh that of their conventional counterparts. However, research on the occupational safety and health risks associated with the planning and construction of green buildings is still limited.

In an effort to raise awareness of the risks associated with green buildings, EU-OSHA has released a new fact sheet.

"Occupational safety and health issues associated with green building," provides information on occupational safety and health risks, both new and old, that will demand specific consideration when it comes to the planning, construction, maintenance and renovation of these buildings.

According to research, risks include those found on traditional construction sites (such as working at height, slips, trips and falls) as well as risks associated with new technologies and unfamiliar materials.
