International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has launched “Spread the load!” a safety campaign the group hopes will increase awareness about properly assessing ground conditions and correctly using stabilizers, outriggers and spreader plates. According to IPAF:- Spreader plates should always be used with boom-type aerial work platforms (AWP) when fully supported on their outriggers.
- Spreader plates should be used with all other AWP that have outriggers unless a risk assessment indicates that they are not necessary.
