EU-OSHA Launches Risk Assessment Project
The Online interactive Risk Assessment (OiRA) project developed
by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) is a new online
free web application designed to help Europe’s 20 million micro and small
enterprises improve worker safety and health by assessing risks. In
launching OiRA, Jukka Takala, director of EU-OSHA, acknowledged the challenges
that small employers face in conducting risk assessments, who often cite lack
of expertise, costs and time as primary reasons they don’t conduct the
assessments. According EU-OSHA, the tool provides a step-by-step risk
assessment process that starts with identifying and evaluating workplace risks,
moves into decision making on preventive action and identification of adequate
measures, to covers continued monitoring and reporting. Learn more about the
project here.
