According to
EarthSky, the preliminary count for the tornado outbreak on March 2 is up to 80, with 42 tornadoes confirmed and 39 deaths. Strong storms pushed through Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina. As the damaged communities begin to take steps to recover, employers should review the tornado response tools available from OSHA. Clean up and recovery workers may face significant hazards including the potential for additional storms, downed electric lines and sharp debris. Workers should also be aware of hazards from heat stress and from equipment used during response/recovery operations, such as portable generators. Check out the agency's r
esponse/recovery page for more information on these hazards and protective measures.
