Through its Learning Legacy project, the Olympic Delivery
Authority (ODA) is sharing knowledge and lessons learned from the
construction of Olympic Park for the 2012 Olympics in London. According to ODA, the workforce on the Olympic Park and Athletes’ Village sites in east
London peaked at 13,000, and a total of 40,000 people will have worked
on the project by the time it is complete.
ODA has grouped the lessons into 10 themes, including health and safety, and sustainability. These sites feature micro reports, case studies, research summaries and champion products that have kept workers safe and healthy. ODA reports that "the accident frequency rate for the Olympic Park is well below the
industry average and below the national average for all workplaces." In addition, ODA reports that "98% of material from Olympic Park demolition work was reclaimed for reuse and recycling."
