Healthcare Challenge to Increase Quality of Care, Lower Costs

The Health Care Innovation Challenge, sponsored by Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), will distribute up to $1 billion in funds for projects that will deliver high-quality medical care. The challenge also will help produce ideas that would require the need to hire and train new healthcare workers.

According to DHHS, the grants will be awarded to applicants who come up with the most innovative and compelling ideas to deliver better healthcare and lower costs to those enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program. The selected projects will be monitored for quality care improvements and savings generated.

Applicants must submit a letter of intent by Dec. 19, 2011.
