ASSE Foundation Accepting White Papers for Its New Research Program Grant

ASSE Foundation announces its Foundation Research Program, which will award a 3-year, $300,000 grant in 2015 to a researcher who best describes how a proposed study will mitigate the risk of injury and illness in the workplace. Submissions will be evaluated by the Foundation Research Committee and be examined on scientific merit, efficacy of the research design and outcome impact. White papers and subsequent selected full proposal focus areas will be based on the safety-related topics of the NIOSH National occupational Research Agenda. The $300,000 award will be funded at $100,000 a year over the next 3 years, beginning in 2015. White papers must be submitted electronically to Brenda Kay Zylstra at bzylstra@asse.org by midnight Oct. 1, 2014.

"It's been the longstanding goal of the ASSE Foundation to fund research that advances the safety profession," says ASSE Foundation Board Chairman Alexi Carli. "We view this as the next phase for us; being a catalyst that sparks the next wave of critical thinking in safety."
