Dominion Virginia Power Lineman Shares Safety Rap

Dennis McDade, a 36-year-old lineman for Dominion Virginia Power, has gained a following thanks to his “Safety Rap” video advocating workplace safety.

The video, originally created in 2008 and featuring his coworkers has received 300,000 views on YouTube and is interspersed with animations created by McDade talking about safety issues.

McDade, who performs under the name Dyverse, specializes in service restoration for Dominion. He has another safety video “Zero” is on YouTube, and he stars in his company’s “A Lineman’s Journal” video series.


Nationally, 4,628 workers were killed on the job in 2012, according to OSHA, but no Dominion Virginia Power employee has died on the job in more than a decade. The company has also reduced reportable safety incidents by 27% since 2010.
