NFPA Urges Public to 'Read for Fire Safety' During Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 6-12, 2013, and NFPA and Sparky the Fire Dog urge fire departments, parents and teachers to "Read for Fire Safety." NFPA's new free e-book and storybook app provide an interactive learning opportunity for readers. They both feature interactive whiteboard lessons and a teacher/parent guide with discussions questions and activities.

The e-book involves a story of superhero who protects his family from fire, as well as facts about smoke and fire. In Sparky's Birthday Surprise app, kids can plan the birthday party while learning what to do if a fire alarm sounds. For more information, visit NFPA's website.
