Radon Awareness Week

October is a busy month for safety-related campaigns and observances. In addition to being National Teen Driver Safety Week, this week is Radon Awareness Week. Radon is a naturally occurring, invisible and odorless radioactive gas. According to EPA, one in 15 U.S. homes contains high levels of radon, and the agency estimates that exposure to radon in the home is responsible for an estimated 20,000 lung cancer deaths each year. EPA and the Surgeon General recommend that homes be tested every 2 years for radon. Find contact information on your state radon office here.
