Project Ignition Students Take the Lead During National Teen Driver Safety Week

It’s National Teen Driver Safety Week. To raise awareness and involve more teens in the push for safer driving, State Farm and the National Youth Leadership Council created Project Ignition. The grant program uses service-learning to address teen driver safety issues through student-led campaigns. Two of the many activities the student groups will lead across the U.S. this week include:
  • Today, Springlake-Earth High School students in Earth, TX, will unveil state-approved signs they secured, notifying drivers that it is illegal to use cell phones in their school zone.
  • Tomorrow, Miss Illinois will visit Fieldcrest High School in Minonk, IL, to participate in the students’ all-school program regarding teen driver safety. She will sign the students’ pledge wall, joining thousands of others in a commitment to never text and drive.
Grant applications are being accepted through Nov. 15.Follow the program throughout this week and year on Facebook.
