OSHA has issued a final rule that
extends the deadline for crane operator certification requirements to Nov. 10, 2017. The 3-year extension applies not only to the agency's
Cranes and Derricks in Construction final rule, but also to the employer's responsibility to ensure that crane operators are competent to operate a crane safely. The agency says the extension was implemented after considering
public comments and the hearing testimony on its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking back in February 2014.
