February is American Heart Month

Many organizations in the U.S. dedicate the month of February to heart health. It's a month to spread awareness about the importance of it, with heart disease being a leading cause of death for Americans, reports U.S. Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS). Some heart-healthy initiatives include:
  • Million Hearts Initiative aims to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes throughout the next 5 years.
  • The Heart Truth campaign is dedicated to addressing women's heart health and will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year.
  • The Let's Move! initiative targets childhood obesity by encouraging healthy foods and activities for kids.
  • American Heart Association also has numerous programs and tips to prevent a healthy heart.
