Reporting Occupational Injuries to OSHA

This June, OSHA released a proposed change to its current requirement when reporting on-the-job injuries and illnesses. The change would make employers call within eight hours to report any fatalities or hospitalizations and 24 hours to report any amputations. Reporting amputations, which by OSHA standards mean loss of bone, is not required under the current regulation. All incidents must be verbally reported either by telephone at (800) 321-6742 or in person at an area office.
