U.S. Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS) has created the Healthy New Year Video Challenge, which encourages participants to share their stories of how using technology has helped improve their health. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) launched the contest in hopes of engaging consumers to combine technology in their health care practices.
According to DHHS, submissions can include examples of using e-mail to communicate with doctors, using online patient portals to manage health information or downloading a mobile application for medicine reminders.
Submissions will be accepted until Feb. 16, 2012. Entries will be voted on by the public, then a panel of judges will determine the top winners, who will receive a portion of the $5,000 prize money and whose videos will be featured on ONC's consumer-facing website.
