ISO Standards Help Organizations Improve Social Responsibility

According to ISO, an organization’s overall performance depends on its performance in relation to the society in which it operates, and its impact on the environment. ISO 26000:2010, Guidance for social responsibility, was created to improve the social responsibility of all types of organizations. The standard provides concepts, terms and definitions related to social responsibility. It also advises organizational leaders on how to integrate and implement policies and practices that will promote this kind of behavior throughout the workplace. The standard recommends that companies take into consideration societal, environmental, legal, cultural, political and organizational diversity when making policies as well.
