If you’re interested in global health concerns, enjoy board
games and happen to live in the Washington, DC, area, you might be interested
in an event being held at the Koshland
Science Museum of the National Academy of Sciences. Called “Play!
Pandemic,” the game night will be held Jan. 26, 2012, 6:30pm to 8:30pm EST,
and invites teens and adults to play the board game Pandemic. Each
player takes on a role and works with a team to try to save mankind.
The evening also offers a chance to view the museum’s
exhibit, Infectious
Disease: Evolving Challenges to Human Health, before it closes. The exhibit
offers an in-depth view of viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites, the types of
infectious diseases they can cause, and the scientific challenges involved in
targeting them.
