European Commission Seeks to Boost Social Responsibility

ISO 26000, Guidance on Social Responsibility, is one of three documents European Commission (EC) is recommending that European enterprises follow to fulfill their commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR). According to EC, boosting CSR in Europe will “create conditions favorable to sustainable growth, responsible business behavior and durable employment generation in the medium and long term.”

ISO 26000 is a voluntary guidance standard that draws on best practices is not to be used for certification, unlike ISO 9001:2008 (quality management) and ISO 14001:2004 (environmental management). Learn more about ISO 26000 here.
