OSHA Extends Temporary Enforcement Measures
Due to high numbers of fatalities from falls, OSHA has extended its temporary enforcement measures in residential construction. Prolonged until September 15, 2012, these enforcement measures include priority free on-site compliance assistance, penalty reductions, extended abatement dates, measures to assure consistency and increased outreach. This past year, OSHA conducted over 1,000 outreach sessions nationwide to assist employers in complying with the new directive and will continue to work with employers to help them understand the new policy. A wide variety of educational and training materials to assist employers with compliance is also available on the Fall Protection in Residential Construction page.
