Implementing 70E for Safety: Session Recap

Guest Post from Frank D'Orsi, CSP, ARM

Instructor Daryn Llewllyn was informative, humorous, leaned on personal experiences and provided a very good presentation. His session was an excellent primer presented in simple, practical lay terms, and he ably covered how to understand the purpose, scope and elements of program implementation. He covered the difference between OSHA and 70E, and OSHA priority of looking to 70E for how to comply.

Areas covered included work categories, justification for work, chapter-by-chapter categories of 70E and importance of each. He reviewed critical factors safety profs need to know about culture change regarding electrical installation hazard, training, arc flash analysis, complete versus partial studies and use of tables, hazard assessment, data collection, engineering, elements to require on a project, and what to expect from the final report and hazard elimination. Provided great resource information on the Llewellyn website that is available to all. Anyone seeking additional information on program implementation should visit Llewellyn in Booth 342.
