Comments on Proposal to Create ISO Committee on Road Traffic Safety Management

Swedish Standards Institute (SIS) has submitted a proposal to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to convert ISO Project Committee (PC) 241, Road Traffic Safety Management System, into an ISO technical committee. ANSI is inviting all interested stakeholders to submit comments on the proposal by Friday, April 13, 2012.

According to SIS, the committee would focus on standardization in the field of road traffic safety (RTS) management standards. The following areas would be developed:
  1. a requirement standard for road traffic safety;
  2. RTS specific auditing requirements in third-party certification;
  3. implementation and guidance documents.
ISO 39001, Road traffic safety (RTS) management systems–Requirements with guidance for use, is already underway and is expected to be released by year end.

Read the SIS proposal here and send comments to ANSI's Steven Cornish.
