ASSE Launches Risk Assessment Video Series

Introduction to Risk Assessment from ASSE Safety on Vimeo.

The OSH profession continues to transform its practice from compliance-based approaches to forward-leaning risk-based techniques that can enable action before an injury, illness or loss occurs. To aid that process, ASSE's Risk Assessment Institute has launched the "Risk Assessment in the Working World" video series. The series of short videos tackles four key topics: assessment, hazard identification, analysis and evaluation.

According to the institute, the videos are designed to help OSH professionals learn more about or refresh their knowledge of risk assessment and management. "The videos present practical information that can be used to evaluate and control risk within an organization, resulting in improved health and safety performance," says Scotty Dunlap, a member of ASSE's Risk Assessment Committee and an associate professor at Eastern Kentucky University. Fellow committee member Ken Daigle, who is group director of safety with BP, adds, "The videos are a great resource . . . . They are short, to the point and give you just what you need to know about each topic without a lot of fluff."
