ANSI and The Society for Standards Professionals (SES) have announced the 2013 World Standards Day Paper Competition. In conjunction with the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day 2013, the competition has a theme of "Standards for a World at Work and Play," which represents the various ways standards are represented in everyday lives. ANSI reports the theme, ". . . reflects the many ways that standards function as a tool to bolster consistency, repeatability, dependability and excellence in a wide variety of technologies and fields." All paper submissions must be sent to admin@ses-standards.org no later than midnight on Aug. 3, 2013. A complete list of rules can be found on the SES website. The authors of the top three papers will receive a cash prize and their papers will be published in the SES journal, Standards Engineering.
