New Video Series Gives the Bottom Line on Ergonomic Research

Helping to make the findings of ergonomics studies easier to understand and apply in a work environment, Humantech has launched a new videoseries, “The Bottom Line.” The goal of the series is to summarize and translate scientific research on ergonomics into a simple message (i.e., the bottom line) that can be directly applied in the workplace.
The debut video in the series explains a 2014 study that examined the optimal distance between a workstation and a pallet to minimize back twisting during loading tasks. Researchers found that as the distance increased, back twisting decreased, and task time and lateral bending velocity increased. The bottom line for this study is the optimal distance is between 39 and 49 inches.

Upcoming topics include the NIOSH Lifting Index and static standing guidelines.
