National Academies Press has published the fifteenth volume of
Acute Exposure Guideline Levels for Selected Airborne Chemicals. This latest edition lists the acute exposure guideline levels (AEGLs) for seven extremely hazardous substances identified by EPA. The seven chemicals are ethyl mercaptan, methyl mercaptan, phenyl mercaptan, tert-octyl mercaptan, lewisite, methyl isothiocyanate and selected monoisocyanates. The organization reports that AEGLs are exposure levels below which adverse health effects are not likely to occur.
