EPA's Fix-A-Leak Week Begins Today

EPA's fourth annual Fix a Leak Week is March 12-18, 2012. It is a week to educate the public about the importance of fixing leaks in households to help conserve water and save on utility bills. The agency reports that American households waste more than 1 trillion gallons of water per year on leaky pipes, showers and other fixtures. "We're not just losing water, we're also losing the money our communities put into keeping our water clean and healthy," says EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson.

EPA encourages American's to take these easy steps during Fix a Leak Week:
  • Check for leaks.
  • Twist and tighten pip connections.
  • Replace the fixture if necessary.
