Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) urges consumers to follow
12 safety tips to ensure the safe use of heaters. Here are a few:
- Never leave an operating heater unattended.
- Read instructions and warning labels before use.
- Do not use the heater with a power strip or extension cord, as this may cause the strip to overheat.
- Keep combustible materials at least 3 ft from the heater.
