Ford Implements Technology to Wake Up Drowsy Drivers
Starting in early 2012, Ford
Motor Co. will introduce its new Lane Keeping System, which can detect
drowsy driving and help drivers stay alert at the wheel. The system monitors
the vehicle’s lane position, and notifies the driver with a dashboard warning
light, vibrating steering wheel and warning chime. In addition, the system
applies torque at the steering wheel to direct the vehicle back into the lane. Ford
has produced an animation that
demonstrates how the new system works.
